Oyo State House of Assembly, yesterday, re-elected the member representing Ibarapa East Constituency, Adebo Ogundoyin, as Speaker of the 10th Assembly.

Ogundoyin’s re-election is the first time a lawmaker will be elected Speaker for two consecutive assemblies without interruption in the state.

Ogundoyin was re-elected during the inauguration of the 10th Assembly, presided over by the Clerk of the House, Yetunde Awe.

The motion for the nomination of the Speaker was moved by the member representing Iseyin/Itesiwaju Constituency, Adeola Bamidele, and seconded by Babajide Gabriel of Ibadan North II Constituency.

The Speaker emerged unopposed, as there was no other nomination for the position.

The 36-year-old Speaker is the highest-ranking member in the state Assembly, having joined the legislature in 2018.
