Osinbajo in a broadcast on Channels Television on Monday disclosed his intention to succeed his principal, Muhammadu Buhari in 2023.
The vice president announced that he will be contesting for the number one office in the country on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He said: “I am today, with utmost humility formally declaring my intention to run for the office of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on the platform of APC.
“At the direction of Mr. President, I have represented our country in several international engagements. I have been in markets, factories, schools, and farms. I have visited our gallant troops in the North-East and our brothers and sisters in the IDP camps.”

Below are the major highlights of Osinbajo’s presidential declaration.
The vice president in his speech asked Nigerians to build a Nigeria where the man from Nnewi sees the man in Gusau as his brother, whereas the woman in Warri sees the woman in Jalingo as her sister.
He asked that all tribes become one tribe; the Nigerian tribe, where all are treated fairly, justly, and with respect.”
In his declaration, Osinbajo promised to take the agriculture revolution to the next level especially mechanization and development of the farm-to-table value chain.
3. EASE OF DOING BUSINESS
The vice president in his speech vowed to provide an excellent environment for businesses to thrive if elected as the next president in 2023.
In his speech, Osinbajo promised to complete the task of ensuring that all Nigerians, male and female, attend school and reforming our educational system for relevance to the challenges of this century.
Osinbajo promised to complete the reform of the country’s justice system focusing on adequate remuneration and welfare of judicial personnel, and ensuring justice for all and the observance of rule of law.
In his speech, Osinbajo vowed to complete the promise of lifting 100 million Nigerians out of poverty within this decade and enhance the Social Investment Programme to a full-scale social welfare scheme.
Osinbajo said if he is elected as the next president, he will strengthen the capacity of States and Local Governments to deliver on their respective mandates.
