OFFICIAL: Marco Asensio signs for PSG
PSG have officially announced their second signing of the summer Spanish international forward Marco Asensio. The Spaniard is the second new PSG player to be unveiled this Thursday, after Slovakian International Milan Skriniar(28). Asensio has decided to pursue a new challenge with Les Parisiens after seven trophy-laden seasons with Los Blancos. The 27-year-old featured 50 times for Real Madrid this past season, logging 12 goals and eight assists. During his time in the Spanish capital, Asensio has amassed an impressive collection of 17 major trophies, including three Champions League titles (2017, 2018, and 2022), three La Liga titles (2017, 2020 and 2022), and one Copa del Rey (2023), among others.
Asensio’s contract with Real Madrid expired last month. No agreement was found over a renewal, with the player entertaining the prospect of moving on. Aston Villa were reportedly interested in signing him on a free transfer, but PSG eventually won the race to his signing. Asensio is poised to give new options to PSG coach Luis Enrique courtesy of his versatility. The 27-year-old can play as an attacking midfielder, a winger, or a second striker. Asensio has put pen to paper on a three-year deal worth reportedly €10m per year.
