Commonwealth Games 2022: Nigeria Wins Another Medal In Weightlifting

Nigerian 19-year-old weightlifter, Taiwo Liadi, has won a silver medal at the ongoing 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.

Liadi, who competed in the women’s 76kg weightlifting event, finished second behind Canada’s Maya Laylor, who set a new Commonwealth Games record with a lift of 128kg.

She also set a junior Commonwealth Games record in the process.

All of Nigeria’s five medals at the games so far have come from the weightlifting event.

Folashade Rofiat Lawal and Adijat Olarinoye won gold medals for Team Nigeria, while Edidiong Umoafia and Islamiyat Adebukola Yusuf claimed bronze medals in different categories.
