APC governors oppose Buhari over consensus candidacy, the governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have reportedly opposed the consensus mode to pick its presidential candidate and governorship candidates in the 2023 general elections.
The governor made their position known in a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa on Tuesday.
It was learned that the governors, who were at the villa to break the Ramadan fast with the president, rejected the idea of consensus in picking candidates for various elective positions.

The governors told the President and the party leadership to seek indirect primaries in picking candidates for various elective positions in the 2023 general elections.
The National Working Committee (NWC) has already adopted the indirect form of primaries for electing its presidential candidate and other flagbearers for various offices.
The platform stated that the NWC took the decision at their meeting on Tuesday in Abuja in preparation for the National Executive Committee (NEC) currently meeting taking place in Abuja
It was known that the NWC asked all aspirants to test their popularity in the field and ditch the consensus arrangement that was used to pick the party leaders at the convention last month.
